Magical thinking: The irrationality of belief without evidence tansgressing onto psychotic dulusions. It's the belief the correlation of ideas or symbols are the causation of real wold events. And what often causes this mentality...Religion. It teaches faith without evidence. There is no coincidence, but direct causational influence by God as a consequence of your heeding or not heeding symbols or messages passed to you by a form of angel thought.

In addition, most of the religous works relates to modern life events via the guidence of wisdom of the 1st, 6th, and dark ages. Modern thinking have made certain passages of the Bible, Quran, Torah, Zabur, Injil, Nevi'im, Ketuvim...etc... totally untenable. Science moved thinking beyond the 6th century, forcing relgions to cherrypick these sources to maintain a semblence of the original belief system.

The problem is many still take the orginal source material literally. It is important that those we elect as leaders and law makers, who negotiate with the government on our behalf, not be a literalist fundamentalist. Or women will be stoned to death if married and not a virgin (Leviticus) etc... The source material of religions have such as small world view, rudimentary understanding of the actualy world we live in, and writings within non-applicable cultures and politics in the environment of old.

Great gift to those who look at a fossil and say, "the jury is still out." Or a gift to those who accidently leave their dog in the car on a hot day, and praise God that the puppy is not dead and therefor should elect an evangelicalist influenced politician.
